Hey mom, the baby's gettin GAMEY

Luke, you cute little boy you. We LOVE your COPPER PENNY hair and those bright blue eyes of yours-your smile is infectios and your little voice is so sweet! But you my friend, are what we call GAMEY. You know the smell of something EARTHY like WILD GAME. Elk, Deer, Fish caught fresh from a mountain stream- I often catch your dad sticking his nose in your neck and exclaim
"Mary Jane, THIS BABY IS GETTING GAMEY."
We bathe you, we put johnson & Johnson baby lotion on you, and despite our best efforts-you still smell a little Gamey. WE LOVE YOU ANYWAY & we will redouble our efforts to make sure you are smelling as sweet as the Yellow ROSE of TEXAS- when we are out & about.

Tricks are for mummy

This morning, I asked Isaac to run and brush his teeth before the bus came. He certainly was TAKING HIS TIME- so I went in to retreive the man- only to find him squeezing my tube of eu de muy expensee facial masque- into the sink. I was like

STOP. STOP. STOP. and this was NOT a telegram people! He had emptied 1/2 the bottle down the sink. He stopped- looked up at me and said

MOM, I was playing A GREAT BIG TRICK ON YOU! ITS TRICK TIME, RIGHT?

Um, no, TIME OUT TIME. He then burst out into tears. I said, hey look, this is clearly NOT TOOTHPASTE- just brush your teeth and get to the bus stop- and NO MORE DESTRUCTIVE TRICKS FROM YOU--mmmKAY?

What am I going to do with him? I know bryan got a book about being destructive from the library- perhaps this could be an evening story time staple- until he gets the CONCEPT.

on your person

I know, I know, babies just LOVE to be held. Luke for instance- all the time. He wants to be on your person. Mostly my person. I'm okay with this, but today I ventured out to the store with him & Penn- and between me and you, I'm pretty sure there is a REASON I don't leave the house anymore. I'm coming to grips with this. It is a difficult stage- but I know soon enough, play group will return- and soon enough, I will have a little time to myself to enjoy a great book without interruptions, a full nights sleep, leaving the house, and perhaps if i'm lucky the whole house clean and laundry put away- for more than 4 hours. Right now is not that season of my life, but I am enjoying my little babies and the cute things Penn does and says. And I love holding little Luke because he is still so small and cuddly- even if he is always on my person. And everyone always says the timE goes WAY TOO FAST!

Dad stole my bike?

Isaac runs down to Amber & Dylans house to check if they are home. WE told him he could only ride in the front of our home where we could see him. So Bryan goes out there and confiscates his bike- sticks it in the trunk and then picks up Isaac from Amber & Dylans house. Funny. Then Bryan comes into me and was like
(meanwhile, i'm in the flippin laundry room doing my matronly THING)- when Bryan bursts in! - Hey MJ- I just stole Isaacs bike- its in the trunk- check this out! Then informed me that he picked up Isaac and they drove around the neighborhood to LOOK FOR IT! JUST TO GET THE POINT ACROSS. Bryan- you are hilarious! I mean who does that to their kid, he IS 4!!
Then he tells Isaac- oh hey buddy, looks like someone stole your bike cause you didn't ask mom and dad to go down the street- in fact you were breaking the rules- Isaac was clearly bummed out- and then later at F.H.E Bryan breaks the news that HE was the one that INDEED STOLE Isaacs bike!. Isaac was thrilled and we all had a good laugh. Funny dad! I don't know if Isaac got the full scope of the message- but Bryan and I relished in his worried look when we asked him- HEY ISAAC- LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE STOLE YOUR BIKE!
Anywhoo- problem solved and I think Isaac will think twice about breaking the rules of running off with out telling us where he is going:)
