Will you take care of them?

A few days this week Isaac has been consistent in asking me

"Will you take care of Penn & Luke when i'm at school?"And he always asks when he gets home- "was Penn a good boy today?"
He loves to hold Luke when he gets home and often he will say... "mom, did you remember to feed Luke and change his diaper- thats really important for babies, okay?"
If I was to guess, I would say that Isaac is a very conciencious BIG brother. (And, I don't know how to spell Concientious)But I thought this would be cute to record.

Fiddling around takes Time!

I asked Isaac, so Isaac are you going to help me clean this up or what?

To which he responded- "no, I'm really busy just fiddling around."

I just burst out laughing and said- yeah fiddling around takes time!

Luke's MINE!

Penn was insistant that he hold "mi bebe." Every time I picked up Luke he insisted on holding him and would throw a little tantrum. Finally I put Luke on the floor next to Penn and he covered him with his own blue silky, layed next to him and looked at me and said, NNNNNo, mi bebe! It was so cute. He wanted Luke all to himself. Then he layed by him and every once in a while would lean over an give him a little kiss. Penn is so sweet. It will be fun to watch them grow together.

Inevitable

Today Isaac asked me to marry him. It was so cute. I think Harrison my nephew wanted to marry Julie when he was young like Isaac.

He just said, mom, I love you so much - you are my best girl- when I get bigger, will you marry me?

What a sweet little boy he is. Of course I said, sure, but what about Sara GUAJARDO....? She is the one in the picture looking at Isaac.

I think she might help change his mind:)

Red Red wet the BED

Isaac still wears a pull up to bed. Yes, I know... but I think its genetic. However last night I was shall we say... out with friends. It was Megans B day. So, I left and when I came home I was like Oh, my dear sweet husband put all the kids to bed! How awesome are YOU?

fast forward to this morning- Isaac runs in buck neked and exclaims- THERE WAS A BIG ACCIDENT. I say, where? What happened- and he said come look, so I go in his room to check and his bed is soaking wet. Mind you, I just put the sheets back on Monday night(I wash sheets every Monday).

Bryan had forgotten to put a pull up on him and change Penn's diaper. His bedding had to be changed as well. HILARIOUS! I think i'll wait for Bryan to come home to help me re- sheet his linens:)

overhearing Isaac singing

this morning I got up, got ready, and went to check on Isaac to see if he was still sleeping. I overheard him in his room singing these lyrics to the Primary song I Am a Builder:

I am the strongest boy that I know, except for dad sometimes
and I am the best boy in the house and have the best CANDY
I really love to i am the strongest and are the fastest like a lighteing bolt
Christmas is coming now halloween's over and i'm going to get the BEST presents ever,
and I get to eat all my candy today exept for at the church....

it was HILARIOUS. Then he spotted me peeking in his doorway and said- MOM! I slept all night BY MYSELF GOOD MORNING!!!

HE IS SO DANG CUTE!

You must be a better mother than me....

what I really wanted to say was "YOU LITTLE S#@*!. But, I refrained- and I said oh, my GOODNESS GRACIOUS ISAAC BRYAN SMITH! I even covered my mouth when I said it- and then Penn went OH and even covered his mouth too!

Isaac dumped out all of the clothes that were in bins which were labeled by size out into Penns closet. Clothes were piled about a foot high off the ground all over the floor and he had taken apart the containers and thrown them into the middle of Penn's ROOM!

I WAS SO UPSET. First of all, it takes all I have to keep the house in great shape- and having the boys clothes labeled by size and put away and continually organizing that particular closet with the clothes by size is something you have to stay on top of. Now this? What am I going to do with him? I wish he would really STOP this strange destructive behavior. I really love him, but TODAY I just want to yell "you little ... well you know- and spank his bare bottom.

I am proud of myself for keeping it together!

and, by the way, I am in LOVE with YOU!

Penn is the sweetest boy. He is so dang cute, so huggable, cuddly, and sweet. He is so kind to Luke and the other day he was blowing little zubbers on his belly and then laughing hysterically. I think he likes his place in the family. Isaac is playing really well with him and their relationship is growing more interactive each day. I love that Penn laughs so easily and that he follows Isaac around. In fact, nearly every day, Penn cries when Isaac gets on the bus to go to school, he reaches out his cute little arms and cries out.... nooo, then the fit begins. He loves Isaac so much. Penn is into dumping out bins of toys, hiding in boxes, playing peek a boo, running, & hiding in the dryer (still). He loves to read stories now, and we always subsitute the name of the little boy for Penn in each story. He is saying these words:

Ba Ba- Bottle
Mama- Mom
Daddy- Dad
Siki- Silkey
Hi- Hello
Raarr- when he sees a lion in a story
Opi- Open
Up- pick me up
and of course--nnnno! he says his N's for a really long time.

He loves the story where the Wild Things Are- and also where is baby's pumpkin. He loves playing with Spaghetti noodles and is starting to feed himself. I love you Penn so much.

I am grateful for my little boys, the joy that they bring into my life. Today I was just thinking of Penn and how adorable he is. He has the sweetest temperment- although he is VERY PASSIONATE- I just know he will grow up to be a strong willed, good hearted boy!

Did you know...

this is the conversation that Isaac and I had this morning.

I: Mom, did you know that you have a beautiful face?

MJ: Oh, thanks Isa...

I: I have a beautiful face too, but when I grow up, I won't be beautiful anymore!

MJ: What do you mean- whats going to happen when you grow up?

I: Dad said that I have a beautiful face now- but when I grow up- i'm going to be a MAN CHILD and i'll be HANDSOME, but NOT BEAUTIFUL. BEAUTIFUL is for GIRLS!

MJ: Yes, you will probably be handsome unless you get in a terrible accident! (teasing him)

He pauses for a few seconds and then says...

I: Like getting struck by lightning- that could happen to boys, right?

MJ: Yep, you gotta be careful of lightning!

THE WEATHER:It is just POURING outside this morning

Big Brother to the RESCUE

Penn is a sweet older Brother to LUKE and to tell you the truth, I think he is going to LOVE haveing LUKE around, he is such a huge helper- whenever LUKE cries, he goes and stands by him. He often tries to put his binki back in his mouth, and even tells him big stories in his one year old English. I love that they will have each other to play with as they grow. Having LUKE so close in age to PENN was a SWEET SURPRISE!P.S (I am not responsible for dressing Penn this evening:)

if peple don't have bathrooms...

Today we went to pick up a jogging stoller. As we were driving through the country side- isaac states- I NEED TO GO PEE. we told him that once we arrived at the peoples house, he could use their bathroom-of course we forgot all about his bladder and continued on chit chatting and checking out their stroller. Once we got back in the car to leave- Isaac was acting quite fidgety. I said, oh no- I forgot, Isaac you needed to go potty, right?
He then said- "oh, thas okay mom, they didn't have a bathroom, so I just peed in their backyard- thats what you do when someone doesn't have a bathroom right, you just pee in their yard?"
Bryan and I were cracking up! SO FUNNY! We all had a pretty great laugh!

Hey mom, the baby's gettin GAMEY

Luke, you cute little boy you. We LOVE your COPPER PENNY hair and those bright blue eyes of yours-your smile is infectios and your little voice is so sweet! But you my friend, are what we call GAMEY. You know the smell of something EARTHY like WILD GAME. Elk, Deer, Fish caught fresh from a mountain stream- I often catch your dad sticking his nose in your neck and exclaim
"Mary Jane, THIS BABY IS GETTING GAMEY."
We bathe you, we put johnson & Johnson baby lotion on you, and despite our best efforts-you still smell a little Gamey. WE LOVE YOU ANYWAY & we will redouble our efforts to make sure you are smelling as sweet as the Yellow ROSE of TEXAS- when we are out & about.

Tricks are for mummy

This morning, I asked Isaac to run and brush his teeth before the bus came. He certainly was TAKING HIS TIME- so I went in to retreive the man- only to find him squeezing my tube of eu de muy expensee facial masque- into the sink. I was like

STOP. STOP. STOP. and this was NOT a telegram people! He had emptied 1/2 the bottle down the sink. He stopped- looked up at me and said

MOM, I was playing A GREAT BIG TRICK ON YOU! ITS TRICK TIME, RIGHT?

Um, no, TIME OUT TIME. He then burst out into tears. I said, hey look, this is clearly NOT TOOTHPASTE- just brush your teeth and get to the bus stop- and NO MORE DESTRUCTIVE TRICKS FROM YOU--mmmKAY?

What am I going to do with him? I know bryan got a book about being destructive from the library- perhaps this could be an evening story time staple- until he gets the CONCEPT.

on your person

I know, I know, babies just LOVE to be held. Luke for instance- all the time. He wants to be on your person. Mostly my person. I'm okay with this, but today I ventured out to the store with him & Penn- and between me and you, I'm pretty sure there is a REASON I don't leave the house anymore. I'm coming to grips with this. It is a difficult stage- but I know soon enough, play group will return- and soon enough, I will have a little time to myself to enjoy a great book without interruptions, a full nights sleep, leaving the house, and perhaps if i'm lucky the whole house clean and laundry put away- for more than 4 hours. Right now is not that season of my life, but I am enjoying my little babies and the cute things Penn does and says. And I love holding little Luke because he is still so small and cuddly- even if he is always on my person. And everyone always says the timE goes WAY TOO FAST!

Dad stole my bike?

Isaac runs down to Amber & Dylans house to check if they are home. WE told him he could only ride in the front of our home where we could see him. So Bryan goes out there and confiscates his bike- sticks it in the trunk and then picks up Isaac from Amber & Dylans house. Funny. Then Bryan comes into me and was like
(meanwhile, i'm in the flippin laundry room doing my matronly THING)- when Bryan bursts in! - Hey MJ- I just stole Isaacs bike- its in the trunk- check this out! Then informed me that he picked up Isaac and they drove around the neighborhood to LOOK FOR IT! JUST TO GET THE POINT ACROSS. Bryan- you are hilarious! I mean who does that to their kid, he IS 4!!
Then he tells Isaac- oh hey buddy, looks like someone stole your bike cause you didn't ask mom and dad to go down the street- in fact you were breaking the rules- Isaac was clearly bummed out- and then later at F.H.E Bryan breaks the news that HE was the one that INDEED STOLE Isaacs bike!. Isaac was thrilled and we all had a good laugh. Funny dad! I don't know if Isaac got the full scope of the message- but Bryan and I relished in his worried look when we asked him- HEY ISAAC- LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE STOLE YOUR BIKE!
Anywhoo- problem solved and I think Isaac will think twice about breaking the rules of running off with out telling us where he is going:)

PAPPI!

PAPPI!

This is the face Penn has when he sees his PAPPI! He just turned 14 months and he can say

HI
Bye bye
PAPPI
Boppi
deedle doo

He babbles quite a bit and loves to look at his own sweet little face in the mirror- I dont blame him, I LOVE TO LOOK AT HIS SWEET DIMPLED CHEEKS TOO!

Dont let Penn in the office

Penn keeps ripping off the keys to the computer- he is so fast we call him our little linebacker. He runs really fast and he is always sidling someone. I can hardly put the dishes away from the dishwasher before he is right in the dishwasher rifling through the cutlery!

Last night, he pulled a huge glass bowl off the counter and glass got everywhere. Then I went into the bathroom and he had squeezed all the lotion out of the baby lotion bottle eveywhere in the bathroom. I went to find him and he was on top of the table pulling out the jade plant out of its planter.

I was so glad when Bryan got home! I dont know about this 2 babies under 1 thing. I am not sure ill ever get used to it. And yes, our apostrophe key wont work because of the SIDLER! We Heart you Penn, but sometimes I wish you couldnt walk yet:)

5 more- no 10 more!

Sister Laura Terry watched our kids on Monday so I could go have my Procedure to get my IUD. When I got back Isaac asked me why I went to the doctor. I told him I had to go to make sure we didnt have any more babies too soon.

That made him burst into tears- and he said NOOOO! I wanted at least 5 more babies- no TEN MORE! I explained to him that we would probably have more but right now. And to that he said- no I want more RIGHT NOW.

Well, I am glad that he is not in charge of when babies come to our family. For my mental health of course!

Thanks Bryan-

Its no secret that Bryan IS THE PEACEMAKER in our FAMILY- and thank goodness for him. Why you ask? Well for one, I am a bit of a micro MANAGER- and I'm sure Bryan gets enough of that at work. But I love him and I'm glad he puts up with me and has patience- because I can get a little UPTIGHT at times- to say the least:)

So today for Family HOME MEeting as we call it at our house, Bryan prints off two talks about Marriage- they were actually REALLY GREAT. and I RESOLVE TO BE A BETTER Wife, and RESIST THE URGE TO BE.... Irritated & OverWHELMED AT THE SAME TIME. I don't know what it is about Sunday MORNING that gets me in a COMPLETE FUNK.

I'm OVER IT- I'm making an honest effort to letting the little things go- mainly the house and kids perfectly matched clothes, and guest bathroom:)

The talks were Acheiving Oneness in Marriage by the Family home eveing resource book 1997 page 239

and The Call of the Mild by Martha Macfalane Wiser

The last talk had 6 points that were directed to the question HOw Can I improve the Relationship with my Spouse?

1. Avoid Negative Thoughts
2. Avoid Sniping- - don't make derogatory remarks
3. Do something Positive for your spouse each day
4. Don't set limits to the work your willing to invest in your marriage- avoid mesuring the amount your contributing to your marriage.
5. Avoid making demands or ulitmatums.
6. Practive Meekness- by being teachable

I really enjoyed reading the talks with Bryan to help me realize that even though we have a lot of demands on us right now, that our marriage and treating each other kindly should be our main priority. I'm grateful for Bryan and for his sacrifices for our family. He supports us and works very hard to keep our life very comefortable and for that I'm extremely grateful for. Also, I have to remind myself, if it were up to me to make the living- as a mathlete, we would be living in my parents basement:) (no offense if anyone is living in their parents basement:)) Until then, I will be content just MAKING Everyones Beds and making our Home A PLEASANT PLACE where my family wants to BE.

Church day? AHH MAN!

Its no secret that I LOVE CHURCH. I LOVE IT MORE WHEN EVERYONE in my family is SICK- and I can relish in the fact that Bryan is home overwhelmed and up to his ears in babies- and I can enjoy the Meeting in PEACE! ONLY KIDDING! Unfortunatley for me, everyone was on the up and up at my house so we all went and were even ON TIME. What a miracle. Isaac however is in a complete COMA on Sunday and is like I DON'T WANT TO GO TO CHURCH. Fine, fine with me, the J dubs came by on Saturday- you should just hang out with them, forget your birthday, forget Christmas- NOW HOW DO YOU LIKE CHURCH, HUH ISAAC?

So finally when the two younger boys were crying and Isaac was pouting in the coner telling me he wanted to SKIP CHURCH for the umTEENTH time in a row- I finally told him a little story. I said Isaac- you know what? I want you to think about this. I want you to think if you were having a birthday party and you invited all your friends to the park, and you had decorations, and a yummy birthday cake and you were all excited about your birthday party- and no one came to your party. How would that make you feel? He said, well, it would make me really sad- I said exactly, it would make you feel like everyone FORGOT ABOUT YOU- ON YOUR SPECIAL DAY? Yes, he said- well that is how our HEavenly Father and Jesus feel when we don't go to church. Church is where we show heavenly Father and Jesus that we love them and we REMEMBER them and they are still SPecial to US.

He then got on his socks and shoes- and we all went to church. With Half a Hair cut:)

Half a Haircut

So i'm related to someone who has high anxiety when it comes to haircuts. His name is Isaac- you may have heard of him. Finally, I need to chop those precious locks- they were out of control-pretty bad. So I tell Isaac, listen, we are flying out to see all your cousins and aunts and uncles- and UNCLE RICK TODD is gonna be there so here is the deal- if you wanna be cool like uncle Todd- you gotta get rid of your half your hair.

He had a complete meltdown, flip out and was pretty close to hyperventilating when he could take no more. Finally I just stopped, I mean I can't hold him down for cryin in a bucket! So, I just stopped- he had a warm shower and then ran outside and rode his bikes with the neighborhood bunch. WITH HALF A HAIRCUT. Half of it is at an 8 and half of it is- well you know- just where we started. It is now Sunday, he still has half a haircut, and Bryan and I didn't have time to cut the rest today- so he may just have to have aunt Julie cut it- in her front yard- with UNCLE RICK TODD- showing him what a real hair cut looks like.

Until then- they boy with unmatched looks- yeah, he's ours:)

A Preschooler, A toddler, and A Newborn

These are the children at my house.

Isaac he's 4
Penn he's 13months
Luke he's 7 weeks

These three boys are my life and every day I make them yummy things to eat, fluff and fold their laundry and stay up with the latter two in the night. Last night I got a full 8 hours of sleep- it was a miracle- thanks to Bryan:)

I decided to start this blog so I could keep a better journal of my children, the funny things they say and my thoughts and feelings on mother hood.

You can join us on our adventure all along the way. I love being a mother to my three rambunctious & handsome BOYS! It is the most rewarding journey I have ever embarked on!
